Synopsis
Geriatric assessment is an integral part of geriatric care throughout the world. The frail elderly often have multiple chronic illnesses, functional disabilities and psychosocial problems, their needs therefore extending far beyond the treatment of a single medical condition. He was formerly Professor of Geriatrics and Adult Development, Medicine and Neurobiology at the Mount Sinai Medical Center, New York. Robert N. Butler, M.D., is Chairman and Brookdale Professor of Geriatrics and Adult Development, and Director of the International Longevity Center, Mount Sinai Medical Center, New York.
