Synopsis

Groups in conflict are common in organizations. Why do conflicts escalate? And how can they be resolved? Dame Rennie Fritchie and Malcolm Leary set out tried-and-tested approaches to help you understand the nature of group conflicts in organizations and to implement strategies to resolve them. Working through the text with an example of conflict from your own experience, Resolving Conflicts in Organizations will give you:

* a framework to recognise the characteristics of a particular conflict - "hot" or "cold" - and how individual temperaments react to different kinds of conflict

* an understanding of how conflicts in groups can escalate - from discussion through to destruction

* the skills needed to resolve conflict at different levels of escalation through changing behaviour, attitude and perception.

(Forms part of The Mike Pedler Library, which currently features Dialogue at Work by Nancy M Dixon, ABC of Action Learning by Reg Revans, A Concise Guide to the Learning Organization by Mike Pedler and Kath Aspinwall, Resolving Conflicts in Organizations by Rennie Fritchie and Malcolm Leary.
