Synopsis
"Covenant" is a long poem, in English on the left page, in Russian translation on the right page, about the progress of the human spirit from the Creation to contemporary St. Petersburg. "Covenant" is used in university English classes in both Murmansk and St. Petersburg, and has proven extremely popular with the students. They enjoy the unique text, and the challenge of comparing lines in the two languages. The book is illustrated with pen-and-ink drawings by Ekaterina Simonenko, a Russian artist. "Covenant" could be used as well by English-speaking students who are learning Russian. The text includes an extensive glossary at the back.
