Dyar was active (an understatement) in Los Angeles and the mountains of the West from the mid-thirties into the 1970s, a period reaching from Manila ropes to nylon. She was a go-devil climber and, in her private letters, a model of vigor and honesty. Bibliophiles take note that she climbed with Glen Dawson, bookseller. Many photos are scattered through the book. A great read on the growth years of rock climbing in California & environs. Introduction by Royal Robbins. Annotation ©2008 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
