About the Author
Jeffrey L. Rotman est un photographe sous-marin majeur. Né à Boston, Massachussets, en 1949, il découvre la plongée et commence la photographie sous-marine il y a 25 ans, dans les eaux froides et souvent troubles de l'Atlantique Nord. Obstiné dans sa recherche de la perfection, il allie à son regard d'artiste la connaissance d'un naturaliste. Le résultat est une unique et inimitable collection de photos toujours à la frontière de l'art et de la science. Un récent article sur son travail observait : " Parmi les photographes, naturalistes et plongeurs, Jeff est considéré avec un profond respect, tant est difficile sa spécialité et tant sa maîtrise en est grande. " Son travail a été diffusé à la télévision, dans des livres et des magazines dans le monde entier, dont Life, Time, Smithsonian, Natural History, The New York Times Magazine, ainsi que Géo, Stern et Le Figaro. Jeff est l'auteur de cinq livres : Beneath Cold Seas (1982), Undersea Life (1986), Les Couleurs du Bleu (1990), The Coral Reef at Night (1993), et Rencontres sous-marines (1995). Parmi ses récentes distinctions, Jeff a été honoré du prix de " Photographe sous-marin de l'année " par la BBC et s'est vu décerner la première place dans la prestigieuse " Photo de l'année " de la American National Press Photographers' Association et de l'Ecole de Journalisme de l'université du Missouri. Jeff vit aux Etat-Unis, en Israël et en France, et parcourt le monde pour photographier la vie sous-marine. Quelle que soit sa tâche, il est toujours prêt à faire un détour pour ajouter une nouvelle espèce à sa collection de requins. Il est important d'ajouter que sa maman le trouve génial !
