Synopsis
After the loss of his wife and newborn son, stagecoach driver Clay Logan leaves behind all that he knows to escape his ghosts. From the peaceful country lanes of Ohio, to the windswept prairies of Nebraska and Wyoming, to the sedate Mormon community of Great Salt Lake City, to the wild, violent mining town of Idaho City, Clay must run in search of inner peace. But instead, he finds only trouble. His trouble has golden blond hair and sky blue eyes, and a half-breed Iroquois Indian for a husband, who beats her mercilessly and loathes Clay from the first moment they meet. In the mining town of Idaho City, Clay once again takes up the "ribbons" of a stagecoach, becoming a reinsman for the Utah and Idaho Frontier Express. Only his own grit and a colleague of questionable loyalties stand between a legion of road agents and a fortune in placer gold. And only the ghost of his wife and the very much alive guns of a vengeful Iroquois stand between Clay Logan and the woman he has come to love.

About the Author
Kirby Frank Jonas was born in 1965 in Bozeman, Montana. His earliest memories are of living seven miles outside of town in a wide crack in the mountains known as Bear Canyon. At that time, it was a remote and lonely place, but a place where a boy with an imagination could grow and nurture his mind, body and soul. From Montana, the Jonas family moved almost as far across the country as they could go, to Broad Run, Virginia, to a place that, although not as deep in the timbered mountains as Bear Canyon, was every bit as remote. Once again, young Jonas spent his time mostly alone, or with his older brother and sister, if they were not in school. Jonas learned to hike with his mother, fish with his father, and to dodge an unruly horse the hard way. The Jonases moved to Shelley, Idaho, in 1971, and from that time forth, with the exception of brief sojourns in France and Arizona, Jonas became an Idahoan. Jonas attended all twelve years of school in Shelley, graduating in 1983. In the sixth grade, he penned his first novel, then called The Tumbleweed, and in high school he wrote his second, The Vigilante. Jonas has been employed as a Wells Fargo armored guard, a wildland firefighter in seven Western states, a security guard, and police officer. He is currently employed as a municipal firefighter for the city of Pocatello, Idaho. He and his wife, Debbie, live in Pocatello, where they raised their four children, Cheyenne Kaycee, Jacob Talon, Clay Logan and Matthew Morgan.
