Children love this book!
This is a true and wonderful story of a young manatee, injured by a boat strike, then successfully rehabilitated and returned to the wild. Paul Brent's gorgeous watercolor paintings tell the story itself, making it appropriate for very young children to enjoy. At a general third grade reading level, I have included extra information about manatees and estuaries at the beginning and the end of the book. This is a gentle story with a happy ending; a beautiful book!
About the Author
Jan Haley's photographs have appeared in New Mexico newspapers and New Mexico Magazine. She lives in Hillsboro, New Mexico.
