Synopsis

Two of today's leading references on child abuse identification and intervention are now available in a two-volume set at a special package price! Child Maltreatment: A Clinical Guide and Reference provides the information needed to recognize child maltreatment, identify children who are at high-risk for abuse and neglect, and prevent and intervene in abuse situations. It is written by experts in paediatrics, psychologists, radiologists, art therapists, dentists, law enforcement personnel, emergency room physicians, teachers, social workers, and attorneys. Case studies serve as practical illustrations that show the subtle nature of abuse to enable identification of indicators. Child Maltreatment: A Comprehensive Photographic Reference Identifying Potential Child Abuse presents high-quality colour photographs and x-rays of the various aspects of physical child abuse. Emotional aspects are represented by abused children's drawings with interpretations by an art therapist. A brief descriptive history of the case accompanies most of the photos, with an explanation of the salient features demonstrated.
