Synopsis
This book looks at a number of approaches which can be used by teachers in schools and colleges to help them enrich their range of activities with text and help learners to use them as a springboard for making language their own. Many examples, tried and tested in class, are provided in support of using texts to help pronunciation, as an aid to talking, as a means of eliciting responses not in the mother tongue, and activities which guide learners progressively towards creating their own meanings. The underlying principles are carefully established to help teachers find or devise their own materials to suit their learners.
