The primary aim of this book is to prepare students for the English for Business examination of the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and similar examinations. The book assumes a reasonable standard of English but aims to help the student improve command of English, to familiarize the student with the language in the business context in which it is used and to acquaint the student with the business settings in which the language functions. It goes on to teach the various skills required. Those skills include comprehension and interpretation of written reports and other business documents, simple analysis of graphical and numerically displayed information, summarizing and precis writing, production of expanded passages from brief notes and composition of letters, memoranda, reports and telexes. This edition has two new chapters on Information Technology and Stocks and Shares and Takeovers, additional case study exercises and model letters. There are also updated LCCI sample examination papers and new ICM sample papers. An ELBS/LPBB edition is available.
