This is a theoretical and practical volume that aims to promote awareness and sensitivity on the range of issues in information design. Knowledge architecturing concepts are presented through the building and exploration of what the author describes as "metaphorical environments". The first section is based on a set of lectures given by the author at the University of Maryland and is followed by a set of illustrations of the concepts they introduced. The second section is more practical and concerns the implications of "Designing Teaching Material for Information Design". The third section, "Basic Principles of Information Design", is based on visuals and schemes meant to facilitate the active learning of those concepts.
