Synopsis
Few parts of the Cotswolds are as popular as Leckhampton Hill and none can offer such variety within so small a compass. The long abandoned quarries are largely responsible. Over the centuries they physically shaped the hill at an early stage led to the introduction of tramroads - almost certainly the first in Gloucestershire. For 130 years the quarries and tramroads developed side by side, and a modern railway only supplanted the latter in the last few years of operation. All described in this book, together with the creation of the famous Devil's Chimney; the infamous riots in the early twentieth century; the inclines and kilns. Illustrated with black & white pictures and maps.
