Synopsis
In the great floods that swept the lower North Island of New Zealand in late February of 2004, there was one extraordinary story that caught the attention of media around the world. It was the story of a cow, Number 569, who saved her farmer from drowning in the raging torrent that swept through their farm. That farmer, Kim Riley, has now written this story for children. It's an exciting tale of this dramatic event, told with warmth and humour. Full colour illustrations by talented emerging illustrator Deborah Hinde add to the tension and the humour. Aimed at children aged 3-7, this is a great story based on a true situation and set in the rural heartland of New Zealand.
