Synopsis
A controversial revelation of the true story of the New Testament. Dr Schonfield claims that an essentially Jewish movement started in Palestine was hijacked by later Greek and Roman converts. His most sensational claim is that forgeries exist in the Gospel of St John and the Epistle of St Peter - the real Peter had been dead for almost half a century when the Second Epistle was written, and all the most memorable parts of John's Gospel were written by John the Elder, a Greek scholar who lived almost 100 years later. This proves, according to Schonfield, that the entire new Testament is a piece of political propaganda, compiled entirely from unreliable soruces in order to create an official European religion cut off from its Jewish origins and from the meaning intended by Jesus.
