In the early 1920s May Norton was born on a farm in Dunlavin, Co. Wicklow, Ireland. In the 1950s she began writing her "Country Diary" for the Farming Independent under the pen-name of Monica Carr. She warmed readers' hearts with her tales, and her words brought back memories to those who came from farming stock, and for those who did not, they gave a delightful picture of country times, nature and how farmers manage through good times and bad. This selection was compiled by Farming Independent editor Mairead McGuinness as a fundraising project for the Irish Cancer Society. . Seller Inventory # 41989
