Review

As part of Dylan's on-tour-forever philosophy the book makes a fine diary, impressionistic and factual. --Classic Rock

Synopsis

In the autumn of 1975, when New England was 'festering with Bicentennial madness', Bob Dylan and his Rolling Thunder Revue - a rag-tag variety show-cum-travelling gypsy circus - toured 22 cities across the Northeast US. In amongst a motley crew that included Joni Mitchell, Joan Baez, Mick Ronson and Allen Ginsberg, was playwright Sam Shepard, hired to write the script for a movie that would come out of the tour. The script never materialised, but Shepard developed instead an impressionistic 'logbook' of life on the road. To celebrate the 30th anniversary of that legendary tour is an all-new edition of Shepard's classic book. Illuminated by 40 candid photographs by official tour photographer Ken Regan, The Rolling Thunder Logbook captures the camaraderie, isolation, head games and pill-popping mayhem of the tour, providing a window into Dylan's singular talent, enigmatic charisma, and vision of America.
