Synopsis

PREFACE\nThe Universe is a really big place. Current estimates say it is 92 billion light years in diameter, and getting bigger. Have you ever wondered how it all started and how it might end, or whether there is alien life on other planets, or whether time travel is possible and how life began? There must be answers to these and other fascinating questions about life and the universe, but in most cases we do not know what these answers are. However, that does not mean that we cannot make a best guess based on what we do know.\n\nThat is what this book is about. It is a journey that allows us to wander through the Universe and wonder about the answers to many questions, some of which we know answers to and others to which we don’t. But that can’t stop us from speculating.\n\nCONTENTS\nAuthor’s Note\nPreface\nIntroduction\nQuestion 1 \t How did the Universe begin?\nQuestion 2 \t Do other Universes exist (and what is the weight of an orange)?\nQuestion 3 \t How did Life begin?\nQuestion 4 \t How old are the Earth and the Universe?\nQuestion 5 \t Does Alien Life exist?\nQuestion 6 \t Could we travel to other stars and galaxies?\nQuestion 7 \t Is time travel possible?\nQuestion 8 \t Could we live longer?\nQuestion 9 \t How and when will the World end?\nQuestion 10 \t Is the future pre\-determined?\nQuestion 11\t Does prayer work?\nQuestion 12\t Astrology: Sense or Nonsense?\nQuestion 13\t Will we ever know everything?\nQuestion 14\t The Creator question\nAppendix A\t Evidence and how to assess it\nAppendix B\t The Cosmic Distance Ladder – how astronomers measure distance\nFinal comments\n\nFREE GIFT The Inescapable conclusion – a science fiction short story\nIndex
