Synopsis
Provides an analysis of the development of learning support for students with special needs from the 1970s to the present. Based on case study research, the book examines the complexities of defining special needs and considers ways in which marginalization of students is created and maintained. Examples of constraining provision in further and higher education are offered that seek to contextualize recent stages of policy development.
