About the Author

Kevin Healy has attained 5th Dan JKA. He began training in Shotokan Karate in 1977, and three years later was awarded black belt, 1st Dan. He continued training and passed his 5th Dan in May 1997. During this twenty-year period he was a member of both the KUGB junior and senior national squads. In 1989 he became EKB national kumite champion. Kevin trained with some of the true masters, Andy Sherry (7th Dan) and Keinosuke Enoeda (9th Dan), before becoming an instructor in his own right. He has been teaching for the last twenty years, and is a serving police officer with London's Metropolitan Police force.
