Synopsis

The demystification of Inside the Ivory Tower. This new and engaging narrative by Julien the protagonist, unveils the well-rooted academic decadence of our society. The author, Obermann, believes the main problem of our decadent society lies deeply in the abuse of intellectual respect in our university system. This predicament filters down to secondary and even elementary school system, since everything must be earned from the university level, and the university level cannot be challenged or disputed. Thus, as Obermann puts it so well, the university system is run ironically and cynically by a bunch of individuals like Dean Pinnocchio. Inside the Ivory Tower redirects the source of the academic failure in order to better serve the economic and political needs of our academic infrastructure, all the while the author demystifies the false image we all have of the noble conception of the academia. Although the novel is well written and well balanced, the plot moves at times, too expeditiously, leaving the reader with the impression of an unfinished banquet. However, for those who would rather spend a brief time in reading, Inside the Ivory Tower is a concise and terse novel that meets the criteria of our fast line society, all the while enjoying the ingredients of a complex plot.
