Synopsis
Blues: 100 Essential CDs traces the music's journey from its rural Southern roots in the early part of the 20th century, to its post-War development as a popular urban music centred in Chicago. Although the book gives appropriate precedence to all the classic "big names", like Robert Johnson, B.B. King and Muddy Waters, it also explores some of the byways of the music in places as far apart as the Bahamas, England and Mali. Also includes several contemporary artists, like Corey Harris, who are revitalizing the tradition as well as keeping it alive.
