When I first started out in my research career, I was
almost put off by the textbooks I was asked to read.
They were full of technical jargon which I found
impossible to understand. As a result I felt quite
stupid, believing I was a fraud who had no right to be
studying on my course.

It was only after I had been a researcher for ten
years or so, that I began to realise it was not me who
was at fault, but instead the authors of these books.

It became a mission of mine to produce a research
methods book that could be understood by anyone who
wants to conduct research. In particular, I wanted my
book to appeal to those who were new to research.

I hope I have succeeded in this mission and that when
you read this book you will be able to complete your
research project successfully and find it a rewarding
and enjoyable experience.
