About the Author
J.C. Ryle (1816-1900), Anglican minister, was the first bishop of Liverpool. He was also a prolific writer, being the author of more than one hundred tracts and pamphlets on doctrinal subjects and also numerous books, including seven on the Gospels. Known and respected for his industry and fidelity, his writings continue to bless readers today.
