This work provides a short survey, with a geographical introduction, of the whole course of Ireland's history. This revised and enlarged edition is updated to the Maastricht Treaty. A new chapter has been added, and the illustrations have been correspondingly augmented. The list of books for further reading has been expanded into a comprehensive bibliography of writings on Irish history. The chronology has been rewritten, updated and enlarged, so that is now amounts to a substantial supplement to the text. Finally, the index has been revised and extended both to include the new chapter, and fill gaps in the original coverage.
