PRINCE is a structured project management methodology for the effective management of IT projects. It covers all aspects of project management including technical and quality assurance tasks, and aims to provide a full range of specialized techniques to support them. A difinitive set of five guides, PRINCE includes an introduction to PRINCE, a technical guide, a management guide, a quality guide and a configuration management guide. Specifically, PRINCE aims to achieve business objectives. Business needs are identified at the outset and at the end of each stage of a project to ensure that they are still valid and still being met. Recognizing that every project is different, it provides a flexible framework for wholly effective management to be applied at the level appropriate to the needs of the project. PRINCE also supports the use of a variety of system development methods including SSADM, Jackson and ISDM.
