Stephanie Prestage taught mathematics in London comprehensive schools for twelve years before joining the University of Birmingham as a lecturer in mathematics education. During her time at Birmingham she has worked on several research projects in mathematics education as well as in the education of new teachers. Els De Geest taught mathematics for 7 years in 11-18 schools and has been a Research Officer at the University of Oxford for three projects.
