Each volume in the library deals with a field of inquiry which has received significant attention in philosophy in the last 25 years and is edited by a philosopher noted in that field. Volume one of this two-volume set contains contributions by Gottleb Frege and Wilfrid Sellars and topics covered include "the structure and content of truth", "conceptual role semantics" and "linguistics and psychology". Volume two contains essays by W.V.W. Quine and Christopher Peacocke, and subjects covered include "belief and the basis of meaning", "the refutation of conventionalism" and "the metaphysics of concepts".
