Following a relatively late start in the world of architecture, Philip Johnson has since earned a reputation as the old master of modern architecture. It is widely accepted that he is more than just an architect but rather that he has combined the roles of architectural critic, historian, curator, patron and practising architect and he has caused many sensations in his lifetime. This volume concentrates on the latest manifestations in the work of this architectural chameleon. In an exclusive interview he reveals the methods of engineering and construction which have enabled him to realise his latest ideas and the thought processes which are already leading him to the next stage of his exciting career. Published to coincide with his ninetieth birthday, this monograph presents the work of a man always striving for new ideas and with an energetic enthusiasm which is impressive and awesome.
