From the Back Cover

There has never been greater public awareness of the environmental problems facing the world. Pollution, the destruction of the ozone layer and the disappearing rainforests of Latin America are just some of the problems facing the natural world. Many people would like to do their bit to help the planet but do not know where to begin; the best starting place is this third edition of the highly regarded Working with the Environment, the definitive guide to paid and voluntary opportunities around the world ranging from working as a part-time warden in wildlife reserves to full-time careers in environmental protection and pollution control.

Working with the Environment indicates the range of different organizations which are involved in the protection and management of the environment, describes the types of work that are available and explains how readers can set about finding work--whether to satisfy a desire to do something for the environment on a short-term or part-time basis, or to establish an environmental career.

Areas covered include forestry, ecotourism, wildlife and habitat conservation, national parks, water industry, organic agriculture, government departments and agencies, business and industry, scientific research, and more.

Working with the Environment gives full details of over 275 organizations offering paid and unpaid opportunities, and contact addresses are given for hundreds more. The organizations listed range from government departments and multinational companies to small conservation groups. Some of the possibilities included are for fully qualified and experienced professionals, while others call for nothing but enthusiasm.
