Synopsis
An up-to-date view of the law specifically related to the protection of the environment, including coverage of the Environment Protection Act 1990, the Water Resources Act 1991, the Town and Country Planning Act 1990, the Planning and Compensation Act 1991 and recent EEC directives. The authors seek to place the law in its context, emphasizing how it works in practice and the various remedies that are available as well as describing the detailed law. The book is divided into two parts, the first provides a summary of the issues that cut across the various types of environmental degradation. the second part, which forms the bulk of the book, takes the form of chapters on the law relating to certain specific environmental problems. This second edition has been updated to take account of all recent legislation and relevant cases. New areas covered include materials on environmental assessment of contaminated land, protection of the countryside and planning and pollution control.
