Synopsis
This work sets out to introduce an already large spatial information systems community to emerging telecommunications technologies that are of direct relevance to their activities, providing case studies of early applications by "leading edge" organizations. It highlights how the introduction of broadband telecommunications in the early 1990s has major implications for the spatial information community worldwide. It also addresses the issues of LAN interconnectivity, WANs and networking.
