Synopsis
George Baker, who portrays Inspector Wexford in ITV's "Ruth Rendell Mysteries", presents a collection of more than 100 of his favourite recipes from all over the world, interspersed with the stories that lie behind them. There are recollections and anecdotes of Baker's life as a child in Bulgaria, then in Yorkshire during wartime, as a kitchen clerk at the Regent Palace Hotel, in the Army, as a family man, and as an itinerant actor on stage and screen. Touring the world with one production or another, he has cooked in bedsits, over camp fires and in hotel kitchens, and collected recipes from America, France, the Middle East, Bulgaria, Australia, Ireland and elsewhere.
