During the 80 year period that the Goss factory was in existence over 2000 different pieces were produced. This latest edition of the price guide lists and values them all. It encompasses the whole range of Goss through all periods, ranging from the first period (1858-1887) when only terra-cotta and parian was produced, the second period (1881-1934) when the bulk of the popular crested models were in vogue, through to the later Third England period in the 1930's when toby jugs, flower girls and cottage pottery was popular. This book is now its 6th edition and has been further improved with the addition of over 200 new pieces and variations and hundreds of detail amendments. All wares have been categorized into First, Second and Third period and introductions and explanatory notes are provided for every chapter. The most important chapters in the book deal with cottages, crosses, fonts, animals and named models of which there are over 700. In the case of the models, the guide gives the correct matching arms for every piece together with values for each of these models with either the correct or other coats-of-arms. A large section in the book is devoted to domestic and ornamental wares, the range of which is immense. First period wares were the earliest items produced and many of the busts and figures listed are extremely scarce. This chapter, rich in illustrations, will raise the eyebrows of those who thought that the Goss factory only produced small pots and vases for the souvenir trade. Other chapters feature such items as dolls, miniatures, advertising items, Goss cabinents, postcards and brass spoons. The book is profusely illustrated and examples from every section are featured among some 1400 pieces shown. Apart from being the only comprehensive guide to prices, the book is a complete listing of all the items produced by the factory and is complemented by a history of the factory and collectors. This 1992 edition is an improved and enlarged version of the previous editions which are recognised as being the standard works on the subject.
