Synopsis

Peter Hodges rejects the long-held view that ramps were used to build the pyramids; his alternative is that it could all have been done with levers. This book explains how and why. First published by Element books in 1989, Aris & Phillips reprinted it in 1993.

Synopsis

This book was re-issued after a popular television programme on pyramid building. The techniques of the building of the pyramids have always been a mystery to archaeologists and many theories have been advanced as to the method the Egyptians used, the most popular being the construction of ramps. Peter Hodges, with all the experience of a master builder, found this explanation untenable and advanced a much more convincing theory of the method used to construct these vast structures; a theory which supports Herodotus' description. This book aims to be of value to all Egyptologists and to anyone interested in building techniques.
