Synopsis
This series represents the innovative approach to the study of festivals. The author has collected together many of the best-known celebrations (both religious and secular) and combined them with a selection of more unusual events. The books have been written after extensive research of the origins of these celebrations and the texts have been checked by an experienced religious advisor. Many people all over the world celebrate their Spring Festivals in order to welcome the beginning of a new year. The spring equinox has been chosen by some religions, such as the Parsis and the Baha'i is as their New Year festival called No Ruz, and the Apoo Festival of Ghana is at the same time. Some other religions have their New Year celebrations in April. Sikhs and some Hindus celebrate Baisakhi and Buddhists in China, Japan, Thailand, Sri Lanka and Burma all have their New Year festivals in this month. Jews have one of their most important religious occasions in spring - Pesah or Passover. Easter is celebrated by Christians everywhere to remember the time they believe Jesus was resurrected.
