Synopsis
In this book, the authors have addressed the component elements of the process of software project management and present a practical and comprehensive guide to the basic techniques and their application. The book starts by explaining the need for planning and presents an overview of the process. It goes on to deal with: project evaluation and the methods available to carry out planning; estimation and scheduling; resource management; risk; monitoring and control; team organization and managing people and quality assurance. Throughout the book there are examples and exercises to reinforce the learning process. These are supported by examples from two realistic project scenarios developed throughout the text. Attention is paid to the government standard for the control of IT standards, PRINCE. The authors' experience in the subject is demonstrated in the practical nature of the book and in the way which it looks at the topics from the viewpoints of both managers and project team members.
