Synopsis
This text is intended to be of use to science and electrical engineering students studying a course in image processing. It is designed to provide an applications approach to learning the subject, and is enhanced by the software, Ad Oculos (Version 2), a Windows-based toolkit that allows the reader to interact with, visualize and analyze both simple and complex digital image processes. This package provides: an introduction to the subject of digital image processing - both theory and application; a hands-on computer-based teaching programme; and a collection of more than 50 algorithms (including local and point operators, region and contour segmentation, Fourier and Hough transforms, morphological operators, texture analysis, pattern recognition and image sequence analysis; and a graphical user interface which allows the user to combine the algorithms to form complex processing chains.
