Synopsis
A further instalment in the adventures of private investigator Rex Carver. Rex is called in to recover a gold python bracelet stolen from a wealthy woman by her brother. What begins as a simple enough task of finding an errant sibling, quickly turns into a dangerous game of double-cross with Rex following trails in Italy, Spain and North Africa, while trying to stay one step ahead of the operatives that are out to get him. Imperturbable and never lost for an answer, Carver is one of the most likeable undercover agents in this fast-paced genre. Victor Canning (1911-1986) was one of the most prolific thriller writers of the 50s, 60s and 70s. Despite his output, his writing standards were very high and his books were enjoyed as much by critics as the wider reading public.
