It won Andrew Thompson the Best Writer award at the 2018 Stage Debut Awards. In Event of Moone Disaster is Andrew Thompson's debut play.'Triumphant. The play riffs on the scientific and imaginative possibilities opened up by space travel, but beyond the astro-geography it movingly explores the crucial spaces between people. an intricate, poignant and frequently funny play' The Stage'Thompson's century-long epic cannot be faulted for its ambition as much as this is a play about fertility and giving of life, it's also one about the desire to escape, to see the stars and break from the remits of everyday life. A love-letter to dreamers everywhere, and whenever' WhatsOnStage'Andrew Thompson's debut play is highly original peppered with quirky humour an impressively condensed epic about failure and the power of impetuous decisions to shape the future' Evening Standard'As a script, it has just about everything: Space! Feminist Issues! Critical consideration of political PR! A sexy, faceless astronaut! with a damn good story to boot. It feels like a piece that was missing from the canon with irresistible characters for actors to get their teeth into, and I expect to see it revived many, many times; coming soon to a student production or audition room near you' Exeunt MagazineBest Writer, Stage Debut AwardsTheatre503 Playwriting Award - 2016 Winner of the 2016 Theatre503 Playwriting Award, Andrew Thompson's debut play is about the adventures of three extraordinary women spanning 80 years, against the backdrop of humanitys journey to the stars.
