Synopsis
Presented in London's West End as part of the centenary year celebrations for playwright Terence Rattigan. This major revival of the great wartime romance starred Sienna Miller, James Purefoy and Sheridan Smith (winner of the 2011 Evening Standard Award for Best Actress) and was directed by Sir Trevor Nunn.
It is 1942. At the Falcon Hotel, on the Lincolnshire coast, Teddy a young RAF bomber pilot celebrates a reunion with his actress wife Patricia. They are thrown into upheaval when Peter, Patricia's ex lover and Hollywood heartthrob arrives and an urgent bombing mission over Germany is ordered. Who will make the sacrifice during the long night, as Patricia finds herself at the centre of an emotional conflict as unpredictable as the war in the skies. One of the playwright's biggest successes, Flare Path was based on Rattigan's experience as a tail gunner in the RAF and was famously filmed with Michael Redgrave, Jean Simmons and John Mills as The Way To The Stars.

About the Author
Terence Rattigan (1911-1977) hit the jackpot at the age of 25 with French Without Tears and followed this success with, among others, The Browning Version,The Deep Blue Sea, Flare Path, Separate Tables and The Winslow Boy. Most of Rattigan's plays are currently published in handsome uniform editions by Nick Hern Books, with life sales of several thousand to date.
