Synopsis

A rare book which has a rugby and a football story to tell. The book gives a personal perspective by a major player on a key period for football in Wales. A topical account as Cardiff City have recently been promoted and then relegated from the Premier League, which gives great insight into the highs and lows of Cardiff F.C. from the inside. The story of the rugby player turned Board member and director of Cardiff City football club Mike Hall, who won 42 rugby caps for Wales. He made his debut against New Zealand in 1988, and captained his country at the 1995 World Cup. He played for the British and Irish Lions in Australia in 1989. He also represented the Barbarians and a World XV. In an eventful club career he played for Maesteg, Bridgend, Cambridge University and Cardiff, captaining the Arms Park club for five seasons. While playing rugby he was instrumental in plans for a professional rugby circus which helped force the game to turn professional in 1995. He then moved into the property business and ended up playing a crucial part in the development of the Cardiff City Stadium, becoming a director of Cardiff City Football Club and working through, arguably, the most pivotal period of the Bluebirds history, alongside Sam Hammam, Peter Ridsdale and current Malaysian owner Vincent Tan.
