Synopsis
The spirit of British and Irish Lions rugby was revived by the level-headedness, common sense and skill of Ian McGeechan and Gerald Davies in South Africa in 2009, and Stewart McKinney's belief in and love of Lions rugby was rekindled, too, by what he witnessed at first hand on that tour. Here he collects stories from fellow former Lions, ranging from the intrepid tourists of the Jack Kyle and Cliff Morgan era to the professional players of today. Contributors include Bill Beaumont and Mike Teague of England, Gerald Davies and Ray Prosser of Wales, Gavin Hastings and Jim Telfer of Scotland, and Keith Wood and Ciaran Fitzgerald of Ireland. About the Author
Stewart McKinney is a former Ireland international rugby player who was part of the British and Irish Lions team that was victorious against South Africa in 1974. He also edited and contributed to Voices from the Back of the Bus, an acclaimed collection of true stories about playing international rugby in the pre-professional era.
