The Legal Practice Companion is a rarity amongst legal textbooks - it is concise, reliable and reader-friendly. It aims to provide students, trainees and newly qualified practitioners with a snappy overview of the key areas of legal practice - namely conduct, accounts, tax, wills and probate, conveyancing, business, and civil and criminal litigation - and is certainly successful in achieving this. The format of the book is original and effective. Gone are the unwieldy passages so familiar to law students. Instead, a non-nonsense and highly practical approach is employed, with text confined to short bullet points. Flowcharts, diagrams and checklists are frequently used and usually succeed in making even complex legal provisions digestible. I was impressed by the book's section on tax, which gives a clear step by step explanation of each calculation, followed by a fully worked example. Usefully, the Legal Practice Companion covers all the compulsory and pervasive topics of the LPC. It could minimise the stress of making last minute revision notes, and provide a helpful point of reference in open-book exams. As a guide and revision aid to the main areas of legal practice, the Legal Practice Companion can be highly recommended. --The Trainee Magazine, Autumn 2004
Legal Practice Companion provides a fantastic flashlight, explaining the key principles in a logical and straight-forward way, through what may otherwise be the dark days of the LPC!... For only £35, anyone studying the LPC cannot afford to miss out on this excellent text which is a great investment, a fantastic revision aid and a superb supplement to lesson. --Student Law Journal, 2012
