A mysterious young horse trainer who wishes to keep his identity secret, moves to England and proceeds to take on his successful English counterpart. Suddenly, strange accidents start occurring: A fire breaks out, horses are abducted and the stable's champion jockey is enticed away. Finally, an attempt is made on the trainer's life. Races at leading courses are described in thrilling detail while smaller courses also figure in the exciting and mysterious events. The characters include a charismatic Irishman, an elegant Englishman, a dubious bloodstock agent and a wealthy Oriental family dominated by an enigmatic and powerful father. As the violence escalates, one suspect emerges as the mastermind behind all these events. And the final revelation as to their identity and the motives behind all the brutal events stun the police, bankers and international racing authorities alike.
