From the Author

`Death is a Member` is my first attempt at writing. I guess at the age of 81,I left it a bit late to start writing crime novels. The problem has been, I let other interests take over, so its taken a little longer than most other authors to surface. I have set myself a target of three novels with the same detective Jim Langton and his side kick Sgt.Harry Mills. The second book is now completed and will be off to the publishers very shortly, the third book is now under way. All the books have the subtitle `Langton investigates` Jim Langton is a mature stable character, If you are looking for a hard drinking maverick Detective Chief Inspector, who isn't to bothered where he wakes up in the mornings, and then belts round in fast cars, then this book is not for you. Langton sets about his investigations logically, he has a heart, is fair, but doesn't suffer fools gladly. Speaks his mind without fear or favour. When I first wrote this book I called it ` A Course for investigation` as it deals with murder at a Golf Club. My wife Jean read the manuscript and suggested `Death is a Member ` as a more suitable title,I put it to the publishers, they agreed and I believe they are right. The story starts, as the title suggests, with the discovery of a body just off the 7th. fairway, as it unfolds you will discover it has many twists and turns that could lead you astray, however the clues are there. I believe the characters are portrayed realistically and could easily be accepted in normal society, at least until you get to know them better. There are always the exceptions aren't there.? It is a book I believe you can leave lying around without any undue worry.I hope you like it.
