About the Author
John Mathew practiced as a barrister at the Criminal Bar for fifty years. Always interested in history and concerned at the lack of its teaching in present-day schools, he decided to write a short history of England for young teenagers in his retirement. It is his hope that this easy-to-read story will be of interest, not only to the young, but to those responsible for their education.
