Meditation: Four Steps to Developing a Clear Mind and an Open Heart is a unique programme. Best-selling authors Eddie and Debbie Shapiro guide you through the four steps to meditation and its relevance to daily life. Meditation can alleviate stress, help you reach a deeper understanding of yourself and gain a richer appreciation of life. In Step One you will learn to release inner tension, as it is essential to be relaxed before beginning meditation. Step Two develops concentration and stills the mind through focusing on the breath: it is the foundation of all other meditation practices. In Step Three we practice Witness Meditation to develop clarity and innate insight. Step Four opens the heart through the development of loving kindness, compassion and forgiveness. These four practices form the core of the traditional teachings on meditation. Nowhere is there a programme that gives such direct and progressive instruction for meditation practice. The four CDs each contain two meditations, the main practices from the four steps. Each step can be worked with for a week, a month, or until it feels natural. The book is accessibly arranged on a spread-by-spread basis, making it easy to follow and to go back to the individual meditations you find most useful.
