This is the third book in a trilogy by this Cornish award winning Cornish author and bard. His first novel, "The Saffron Eaters", was an original winner of the Peninsula Prize for a new novel, and went on to major acclaim and publication in paperback by Hodder Headline. The second, "Horn of Strangers", also achieved success. "Apocalypse Dreckly" is, as it's title suggests, different in style to the earlier works. It is essentially a sideways look at St Ives at the time of the famous total eclipse. All those living in Cornwall at the time will recall the panic into which the authorities were thrown, with dire predictions of overcrowding and food shortages, and with panic among the emergency services. With much humour, the author captures the mood of the times, overlaying it with a story in which many of the characters who also appear in the first and second novels, are also included in this final work. Hugely funny - and particularly so to all those who know and love St Ives.
