Interesting thoughts for the truly perfect hostess include rules for bridge, perfect present giving, ideas for children's parties, welcome and unwelcome guests and a list of necessities for every room in the house. Rose Henniker-Heaton's thoughts for cooks may not be as useful now as they were in 1931, but it is always useful to know what to serve at your country cottage when the Prime Minister comes to dine. There are delicious menu suggestions for every social occasion whether it be Your Rich Relative comes to Luncheon or The Family Gathering takes place at your House. About the Author
Rose Henniker-Heaton, the youngest daughter of Sir John Henniker-Heaton MP, began her writing career by publishing poems in the Evening Standard. Lieutenant-Colonel Adrian Porter was intrigued by her verse, and showed his appreciation with a proposal of marriage. Together they wrote a series of poetry cards which were later included in one work: The Perfect Hostess. Rose died in 1975.
