In under 200 pages it touches on the essential techniques and technology of the medium: how to compose and light a scene, depth of field, exposure, file formats, digital picture correction, storage and cataloguing. It's a whirlwind tour that should have something for everyone and everything for someone looking to get started in this fantastic new medium.
All the topics are divided into chapters with between one to three pages devoted to each sub-section. It's generously illustrated throughout, albeit in black and white only but at the selling price you really can't quibble about the lack of colour and anyway it is more than made up for by the sheer breadth of material spanned. Digital Photography in Easy Steps pretty much covers all the basics of photography and digital imaging. It's ideal for hobbyists wanting a quick but detailed introduction or even for photographic and computer professionals wanting to get up to speed with digital equipment or photographic methods.--John Cranmer
